Expanding opportunities for experiential learning.
We continually seek to expand opportunities for experiential learning for students in the BSW program to prepare them for professional social work practice. Baccalaureate programs provide students with strong generalist practice knowledge, values, skills, and cognitive and affective processes that prepare them for professional practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Not only is experiential learning a critical component of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) competencies, but it is also an important part of the accreditation process on which we report.
Building potential through civic engagement.
By providing civic engagement opportunities, we foster a learning environment that incorporates experiential-based learning opportunities to enhance students’ professional skills. Through your generosity, you can help support students' civic engagement opportunities, including Legislative Education Advocacy Day (LEAD) at the state and national levels and Vot-ER, among many others. The BSW program’s commitment to developing students’ knowledge and skills strengthens their potential to make an impact locally, nationally, and globally.
"We inspire as we develop students who will impact society."
We hope to inspire empathy, social and environmental justice, and an ethical framework for our actions as we develop social work students who work toward building an equitable, democratic, and sustainable society. - Ebony Perez, Ph.D., MSW, Assistant Professor and Department Chair, Undergraduate Social Work
