A steadfast organization for decades, the Student Government Union at Saint Leo University continues through its democratic process to provide students the opportunity to enhance student life on campus. Through an executive board and a senate with 25 student positions, student leaders have served the campus community over the years in many ways—from proposing legislation that impacts the needs of the student body to chairing committees or allocating funds to support leadership opportunities and student events.
In addition to organizing a number of memorable events through the Campus Activities Board, SGU members are particularly proud of its part in the revitalization of "Greek Street," the area dedicated to Greek Benches. The iconic lion statue at the roundabout in the heart of campus where thousands of students, parents, and alumni pose for pictures was also made possible through SGU.
Help us grow student philanthropy.
Student Government Union is the official voice of the student body, serving as a liaison between the students and the administration. The organization promotes leadership development and community service; and encourages responsibility, advocacy, and good citizenship. This year more than ever, due to budget constraints, SGU’s newest initiatives will help grow philanthropic efforts among student leaders to advance goals that are tied to the university’s strategic plan. Donations will be used to fund special projects to enhance school pride and the student experience, as well as the food pantry which is a growing initiative that began in 2012.
